Description
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is in Washington, D.C., where he is expected to meet US President Donald Trump in the White House Oval Office later on October 17. This will be their third Oval Office meet under Trump's second Presidency, with the two leaders expected to discuss a possible Russia-Ukraine ceasefire. But just hours before the meeting, Russian President Vladimir Putin called his American counterpart — a phone call that seems to have changed Trump's tone on Ukraine. Trump had earlier promised to sell US-made Tomahawks to Kyiv, so as to pressurise Moscow into agreeing upon a ceasefire. However, the US President has now backtracked from his promise, saying instead that the US can't deplete its own weapons stock. In such, will the third Trump-Zelensky Oval Office meeting yield any positive results? Will Trump continue to pressurise Putin into signing a ceasefire deal during their next meeting in Budapest? And, will the world finally see an end to the Russia-Ukraine war?
