Following a meeting with Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in Toronto Wednesday, Ontario Premier Doug Ford addressed recent comments about Canada made by U.S. President Donald Trump. Speaking about his “Golden Dome” plans Tuesday, the Republican leader told military generals that “Canada called” a few weeks ago to ask to be part of the missile defence shield, and said he replied that Canada should join the United States to get it for free. “President Trump is back at it again,” Ford told reporters. “I’m going to ignore him,” he added. The Ontario premier insisted Canada needed to focus on what it can do on its own regarding its economy as Trump’s tariffs fuel the ongoing trade war. “He drives me crazy. I’ll talk about him. But let’s stop worrying about this guy and start worrying about what we can do as a country,” Ford concluded.
