Description

We’re machining brand new end caps for the CAT 24M Grader Accumulators — turning hardened chrome bar into precision parts! In Part 2 we’ll start with an offcut of induction hardened chrome bar and head straight to the lathe. Both end caps will be machined at once to save time — starting with removing the hardened layer and machining the diameter down to size. From there, the threads, seal grooves, and all the fine details that make these parts fit perfectly will take shape. Each end cap will then be drilled and tapped for the nitrogen charge fittings before parting to length. With the lathe work complete, it’s over to the milling machine where Kurtis will use the PCD function on the DRO to drill and tap all the bolt holes with precision so these new end caps are read for reassembly. That’s the repair completed and job done on our end, with the new end caps machined the customer can get their 24M grader back in action! 📺Missed Part 1?
