Description
Hamas’s chief negotiator Khalil al-Hayya addressed Palestinians in Gaza, marking two years since the October 7 attack and announcing a ceasefire agreement with Israel. Speaking of “heroism and dignity,” he praised Gaza’s resilience under bombardment, famine, and displacement. Al-Hayya said the deal would end Israel’s “aggression,” ensure a permanent ceasefire, secure Israeli troop withdrawal, and open Gaza’s crossings for aid. He added that the agreement includes prisoner exchanges — the release of 250 life-sentenced detainees and 1,700 arrested since October 7, as well as all women and children. He credited Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the US for mediating and pledged to continue working towards a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
