Building on the 3D All-Stars release of Mario Galaxy from 2020 - which was soon after removed the from eShop - Nintendo returns to the game to improve its visuals via upgraded textures, broadened LODs and a scattering of other tweaks. This time it's here to stay, and with a Switch 2 release no less - bumping the resolution to a true 4K. Meanwhile, the original Switch makes more aggressive use of dynamic scaling in this new 2025 release compared to 3D All-Stars - at times adjusting the horizontal resolution to 1200x wide - though most shots come in at 1080p. Tom investigates the changes, while also looking back at its evolution from the Nintendo Wii original.
